What “prep” really means on a paint quote

Two quotes can look the same and be very different jobs. The difference is usually in the prep.

Washing and drying

A proper job starts with a wash and a full day or two of drying. Painting over dust or damp is the most common reason paint peels.

Scraping, sanding and filling

Loose paint comes off, edges get sanded smooth, and cracks get filled. This is slow work and it is where cheap quotes save time.

Priming

Bare timber, new plaster and repaired spots need primer. Skipping it shows up as patchy colour within a year.
